Today we created Fashion Illustrations based on poems, it was great fun and really helped me developing my own style and push myself to use mark making and collaging more confidently.
You always think that graphic design is so simple, a few words, a picture and Photoshop. However, you only have a few seconds to convey your message. So it should not contain too much text, the image shouldn’t distract from the text and though directly related. The purpose of my slogan “ who comes too close, goes too far ” (Wer zu weit geht, kommt zu nah.) is to raise awareness of sexual harassment. I instinctively wanted to create a catchy design, focused on the slogan. To convey more information and emotions, I added an image. A screaming woman, adorned with whatever you have said or called her . Since the interest in the saying arouses, the reader can directly see and feel (in an ideal case also understand) the insight of a distorted world . (Who comes to close, goes to far) Final Poster
Just like in the real world, chaos reigns in the fashion industry. Greed took over the fashion industry. Nothing is more important than performance which contradicts innovation. The fashion companies are no longer taking risks, thus fashion has lost it's passion. Therefore trend forecasting becomes more and more important in todays world. You are working for a client on one target market. Mainly based on apps, blogs, street style, emerging art movements, music, past& current fashion, exhibitions, culture, media, influencer and the consumer's pulse. You need to live and breathe your target market in order to predict a trend accurately. My trend prediction for "Virtual Rebellion"
After I've completed the target market research for my "generation zz" and went into my research I've realised that my customer is not the core of the problem. The lack of communication is caused by their parents. Generation zz is really interested, but their parents don't tell them anything about their own past, and if only fragments. In the first two weeks I was supposed to look into our (German) history, the second world war and it's consequences. But I have to change my customer in order to meet my customer but also my aim: to bound both generations, at the same time. The customer is already quite educated about the past since i n History and German Studies it makes up more than half of the school syllabus. Therefore there is no need to research more in depth within the war and Third Reich, this generation wants to move on and process.
