For this shooting I wanted to focus on the recent and for Germany probably most controversial agenda: refuges. It almost became a brand "refuges welcome" but do we actually mean it? What does it mean to welcome someone, it isn't only tolerating, it means that we make an effort so that people feel home where we are home. Unfortunately empathy seems to be endless, like Europe. Where do we come from? Certainly not from a country. We are not where we come from, that's not our identity. It's the traditions that we keep, that survived the constant change. Thought by our parents and friends, not by a country. A tradition is not limited to a location. We are home everywhere and we should make everyone feel home everywhere. GmbH ist eine junges und noch nichtmal ein Jahr altes Fashion Collective aus Berlin. In nur kurzer Zeit haben sie es bereits geschafft ein Teil des wohl coolsten Laden der Welt (Dover Street Market) zu werden und nicht nur das, oder auch nicht denn sie sind immer ausverkauft. Die sind international,  eine Familie, so unterschiedlich und besonders wie es nur möglich. Sie verkaufen das Gefühl von Familie und der 90s Berlins. Techno, Drogen und ganz viel Liebe. Today it was chaotic, stormy outside and busy inside. It was naive to assume that you could go through the Met in only one day, we almost ran through, and we haven't even seen a fraction. From antique to African art, renaissance and michelangelio straight to Hackey (whose release I missed in London so it was a godsend to travel with together with the exhibition). On the way out we ran through Pollock and managed to catch a glimpse of “Delirious: Art at the Limits of Reason, 1950-1980” and  Anselm Kiefer at the Breuer Haus. Anselm collages have been very inspiring and helpful. Ich kannte sie schon lange, wir waren uns vertraut. Immer schon wollten wir uns treffen, aber es kam immer was dazwischen. Ich hatte es schon aufgegeben. Aber dann durch Zufälle sollte es doch zustande kommen, ein bisschen verspätet, aber immerhin wie geplant für einen gemeisamen Tag. Wir wussten schon einiges von einander, sie hatte mir viele Bilder geschickt, so dass ich wusste was auch mich zu kommt. Es war schon, aber nicht atemberaubend. Viel mehr aufregend war es sie in ihrem Umfeld zu erleben, wie Menschen sie mit menschen umgeht. Sie ist organisiert und gebildet, man hört ihr gerne zu, manchmal hört sie nicht auf, dann observiert man sie einfach und verliert sich in ihren Augen. Ich möchte sie wieder sehen. Die erste Woche zuhause bin ich in meiner eigenen Dystopie versunken, nach zu vielen Dokumentationen und Filmen über Elend und Scheitern war es fast unmöglich das Bett zu verlassen.
